Embed Information Using "Preview"

"Preview" is an application available on most Apple computers.  If you do not have access to an Apple computer this article may not be applicable.

LetterStream requires that all fonts and images are embedded on all PDF files that are uploaded.  If there are fonts or images that are not embedded it can lead to important information being stripped from your document.  In order to identify information that is not embedded within your PDF document, you can follow these steps:

1.  Open the document in Adobe Acrobat, right-click on the document, and then select File - Document Properties
2.  Select the 'Fonts' tab and then look for the fonts that don't say (Embedded Subset) at the end.  These are the fonts that are not embedded into the document

If all of the fonts listed in this say "Embedded Subset" then the fonts on your document should all be embedded.  However, there might still be other information in your documents, such as images or electronic signatures, that aren't embedded.

In order to ensure that all of the information included in your documents is embedded, you can follow this process.  Remember, the proofs that our website shows you will display exactly what we are going to print.  So be sure to review the proofs carefully to make sure everything looks perfect prior to paying for them.  If any information that's included on your documents isn't printable, the proof will reflect that.

Embedding information using Preview:

1. Locate the document on your computer
2. Right-click on the document select Open with and then select Preview
3. Hover over File at the top of your screen, and then click Export as PDF...
4. Save the document to your computer.

Your file should now be embedded!  Again, once you upload it into your LetterStream account make sure to review the proof(s) to ensure all of your information is included.
